As a gay Christian, is there a church that is more welcoming to me, or should I go to a church that is biblical, but perhaps anti-gay? I have traditionally attended a Methodist church, and on the odd occasion, an Anglican one, but tend to the more conservative line with my theology. But the evangelical churches tend to be anti-gay and having attended a couple, I do feel slightly uncomfortable in them. Any advice would be more than welcome, thank you. P.S. I was a member of the old board, but only recently rejoined. Thanks for the board Rev. Jim!

This is a great forum; I have never seen one like it. Rev Jim you are a true blessing to everyone who can see and understand. I would like to take a shot at this one. There have been on very few occassions when I was attending church that homosexuals were misread and misunderstood. As a chaplain; and I have said this before, few if any grieve at the bedside of a dying person because they were gay. They grieve because there now exists a hole in all our lives that cannot be filled. God offers us the favor of being able to grieve and get better as time goes on. This is something the churches fail to realize. I dont think you will find a church anywhere that will not touch on the subject [that of which they have incorrect information] and not offend you. I am a non-denominational chaplain [required] belonging to the United Evangelical Church of America, which means I go to church anywhere I want to or I could have my own flock in a building. The point I am trying to communicate is the availability of our own scripture truths through our own personal God. We found little resistence to slavery in the churches in its earlier years, but time opens our eyes, as will the church to alternate lifestyling. No, the church will not become weaker, but stronger in its availability to every man and woman. I love you for who you are because Christ offers that as a direct commandment. My advice...love them...love them...be you Chaplain Phillip Claude Lamb Mdiv. D.D.

It is important to find a church that fundamentally preaches the Word of God (KJV) and that preaches the truth about homosexuality which is God's love. Church is important to hear God's Word and to fellowship with other believers.... However, for gays and lesbians these churches are far and few between. The United Church of Christ and MCC are available to us, as well as, other spin offs of mainstream denominations. The Holy Spirit has to guide us individually by the knowledge and wisdom we have gained from reading and internalizing Gods Word as far as which church we should attend. This largely depends on what is available to us in the local vicinity of where we live as well.
